If money is an issue, than you should consider a clarity enhanced diamond. They are cheaper to buy because they had their inclusions lasered out.
I would suggest a medium sized diamond (.60-1.00cts) with G-I colour and SI1 or SI2 enhanced clarity.
This will cost the same as a .30-.50cts 100% natural diamond.
If you are going to buy a J colour (do not go lower, its too yellow), make sure it goes in WHITE gold as YELLOW gold will make the diamond look even more yellow.
