What is a diamond parcel or parcel of diamonds?

I am looking at loose diamonds for a friends engangement ring. I keep coming accross listings for diamond parcels? Does that mean a group of diamonds or is it one stone?|||A parcel of diamonds is exactly what it means. Basically a package of diamonds. When people are selling by the parcel they are selling diamonds in bulk. However, because of the high costs of diamonds and the fact that they're small, bulk doesn't mean pounds of the stuff, but maybe 50+ or 100+ carats of it. Diamonds that are sold by the parcel tend to be smaller. For example melees (small diamonds), or if they're larger sizes then they're usually commercial quality. But even the larger sizes are not commonly over 1.00 ct each in a parcel. You might find a parcel of 20 pointers which is 1/5 of a carat each. In your case they're most likely hundreds if not thousands of small diamonds (a few points each) totalling a large sum of carats.
