Diamond???

How can i tell if something is a real diamond?|||try cutting glass with it or scratching steel. if it does then idefinatly a precious/semi precious stone. ( or it could somply be clear quartz.|||In response to all the diamond vs. glass comments: the only reason why diamond cuts glass is because on the Mohs scale of hardness, diamond is 10 and glass is 6.5.

|||Any simulant of diamond with a hardness above 6.5 - and there are quite a few - will cut glass; therefore, do not rely on this method.

Many jewelers have "diamond pens." This pen shoots a laser through the stone and reads the diamonds refractive index.

|||Generally speaking, many jewelers don't know anything about diamonds, so don't count on their visual opinion to be just. They often know how to sell what they don't know, but don't know how to tell you about what they don't know.

|||If you're buying a diamond, ask for stones that come with either a GIA, AGS, or EGL certificate.

|||Ask a jeweller.|||Check this site out it gives you steps
