I have a 3/4 ct diamond and I would like to add some smaller diamonds surrounding the 3/4 ct...to be honest, to make it appear bigger. I already have the ring so I guess my question is since the actual diamond is already set in my ring can this still be done?|||Not necessarily. It depends on how your ring is currently designed, and exactly how you want to add the stones.
If the head of your ring can be safely removed, and another one attached, you should be okay. A jeweler can't (okay, can but really shouldn't)just add heads and stones to rings all willy-nilly. Not only does it look cheap and ugly, it jeapordizes the stability of the overall ring.
Before you make any plans, or destroy a perfectly good pendant, go to your local independent jeweler. Explain what you want the finished product to look like, and let them tell you if it's even a possibility. You're looking at a nice chunk of money for all that labor, plus the cost of new heads or mounting plates for the stones... it may be cheaper and prettier in the long runto just buy a new setting that is made to fit your stones.|||Absolutely! Ask your local and trustworthy jeweler to do this for you or perhaps shop around for the best price. It sounds like a wonderful idea and I hope everything works out.
