How to use black diamond carbon with my fish tank?

I just a black diamond carbon jar and i don't know how to use it if u do please tell me. Also please put as much detail as possibles because its easier to understand|||i use black diamond carbon myself i usually use it to refill the filter cartridges for my whisper filter just pour some inside the cartridge then rinse it as it will have lots of dust on it|||it needs to go in the filter. You can either mix it through the wool or use the end of an old stocking and tie a knot on the other end.

After two weeks replace as it will not have any more affect on the water.|||good choice! Black Diamond works great to get rid of smell and clears the water. the first thing is to get a filter bag (sold in any pet store) or you could use pantie hose by cutting the foot off and adding the carbon and tying it in a not. Rinse the carbon well under cold water until all the black dust disappears. you will hear the carbon making a fizzing sound.(that means it has been activated) add to the filter or you could drop it in the tank. Its usually good for about a month. i hope this answers you question.|||It goes into the filter and you need to remember to change it about once a month or more. Once the carbon has removed the toxins from the tank then you need to change it or it can cause problems by putting bad things back into the tank.

**|||Putting the carbon in a filter bag, either from the store or made from pantyhose is fine.

When you rinse the carbon in tap water that is chlorinated, you will be taking away from its lifespan significantly. The carbon can only absorb just so much - and since one thing it is very good at is removing chlorine, it will do that as the tap water passes through it.

After a couple of weeks, you will need to change it or get rid of it, because if you don't, it will not only start to break down and release minute particles of itself into the water, it will also leech out the contaminants that it originally absorbed.

It has been many years since I ran carbon in a filter as a matter of course - I only use it very rarely and only when I have a reason to do so, for example to remove medication from the water after treating a tank.
